Another great year has come and gone. Twelve splendid months of eating, cooking, and eating some more. It seriously has been one to remember on both a personal and professional level and I want to extend a huge thanks to all of you for sharing it with me! So many great things happened in twenty-thirteen and I look forward to many more to come. But in the meantime, allow me to share a few of my favorite highlights from this last year. And one extra special highlight.
So, without further ado, my top five favorites from 2013:
One: The year started off with an incredibly memorable trip to one of the most delicious places on earth. Filling up on delectable cheeses, loads of cured meats, perfect pastries and the world’s best wine, my trip to Paris was nothing short of perfection.
Combined with a quick skip over to Burgundy…
a visit to my old stomping grounds at Le Cordon Bleu…
and an Incredible meal at Joel Robuchon’s, I knew this year would be a good one.
Two: While on the subject of good wine, in the Spring I attended the intro course to the Court of Master Sommeliers in NYC. And I am proud to say that I passed (phew). I’ll be pursuing the certified level next year in order to give myself plenty of time to drink, I mean practice, I mean practice drinking. For the test. Promise.
Three: One of my favorite things to do at each year’s end is to look over the stats on the blog to see what recipes have caught your attention. For 2013, the most popular recipe on the blog was this little number — brussels sprouts — who woulda thought. But, when you combine them with the creamy, nutty and tangy, I can’t blame you. This is truly a great one to keep in your back pocket!

Four: From the East to West, and North to South, this was the year for travel. I hit up some of nation’s best foods, like killer Nashville bbq, fresh-off-the-boat Maine lobster, and homemade Kentucky moonshine (that counts right?). Just to name a few. Some for business, some for pleasure, and a few trips to help celebrate the union of some amazing people. Which, by the way, were in some pretty hot food spots, like Paso Robles, Mexico, and my hometown, Cincinnati (holla!).
Five: And finally, number five.
We’re so excited to have expanded our family this year with a new addition, due next Spring! Another sweet little baby…GIRL! So, bring it on twenty-fourteen, I’m ready to roll! Au revoir 2013, bonjour 2014.
Wishing you all a year filled with peace, love, and deliciousness. Happy New Year!
